Wavesight stems from a long history in first-to-market innovations, with roots that can be traced back to EMI and the Central Research Laboratories in the 1930s. Our expertise in radio and fibre, coupled with the ability to successfully exploit these technologies, is what makes Wavesight stand out from its competition.
  • 1931 EMI Research Labs (CRL) invents and patents Stereo Recording
  • 1937 CRL creates Electronic Television
  • 1940 CRL demonstrates world’s first effective Airborne Radar System
  • 1968 CRL patents first CAT scanner, winning a Nobel Prize in 1979
  • 1973 CRL develops “Watermark” - fraud resistance for magnetic cards
  • 1995 CRL develops first Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Display
  • 1997 CRL forms Wavelength Digital to develop commercial radio video products
  • 1998 Scipher is formed by management buyout of EMI research arm
  • 2000 Scipher floated on the London Stock Exchange
  • 2000 Scipher invests £5m in development of Ethernet based long range radio & buys Probot Communications for £3.5m
  • 2003 Scipher forms Wavelength Solutions from Wavelength Digital, Probot & CRL’s Wireless Research Group
  • 2004 Wavesight born from MBO
  • 2005 Wavesight unveils 5.8GHz long range radio for voice, video & data
  • 2006 External Video Codec added to product range
  • 2006 European transport product launched
  • 2007 Wavesight aquired by the Jaltek Group
  • 2007 5GHz product range extended
