One example of this is Wavesight’s partnership with the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The applications include the delivery of news and passenger information onto screens in the carriages of its trains, and recently the use of the same system to go the other way - feeding real time CCTV video from each carriage back to the DLR control centre, greatly enhancing security on the network.

Added benefits include the discreet nature of the wireless units, reducing the attention of vandalism often prevalent in public transportation systems and their very low maintenance requirements, a bonus for often already overstretched maintenance teams.

In other areas, such as port surveillance, Wavesight’s wireless bridges provide cost-effective video and telemetry control over the wide open but very busy spaces that would be unviable to cover by cable or cause immense disruption to transportation activities. Their latest development, WaveSEC is an industry first in its merger of state of the art IP Video Codec and WaveMAX radio technology, to produce wireless surveillance systems with full real time video, audio and telemetry control that can be installed and utilised within hours.
